Overview

Enscape is not a separate program you export to. It installs as a plug-in inside the modelling application and opens a rendered window alongside the model, updating live as you work. Move a wall and the render moves with it. That immediacy changes how design decisions get made, because you are looking at the result while you are making them rather than an hour later.

Plug-ins are included for the mainstream architectural modelling packages. This build carries the full asset library, exports stills, panoramas, animations and standalone walkthrough files with no watermark, and is licensed offline so it does not need to reach a server.

Working live

The render window sits next to the model window and stays synchronised. Materials assigned in the host application are read directly, with an Enscape specific material editor available for the ones that need more control such as water, glass and self illuminated surfaces.

Lighting is handled by a sun and sky system driven by geographic position and time, plus artificial lights placed in the model. Because everything is real time, studying how a space reads at different hours takes seconds instead of a render queue.

The asset library

Several thousand objects covering furniture, vegetation, people, vehicles, lighting and accessories, placed directly into the host model through the Enscape browser. Assets are lightweight in the model and rendered fully in the Enscape window, so a dressed scene does not slow the modelling application down.

Custom assets can be imported and added to a personal library, which is how an office builds a set of its own specified furniture and fittings.

Output and sharing

Stills render at high resolution, video follows a camera path with keyframes, and panoramas can be uploaded or kept local for viewing. The standalone executable export is the interesting one for client work: a self contained walkthrough file that a client can open and move through themselves without any software installed.

Virtual reality output is supported on the common headsets, which for a client presentation of an interior is considerably more persuasive than any still image.

Questions about this release

Which modelling applications does it plug into?

The mainstream architectural packages. Installer lets you pick which hosts to register the plug-in for, and only those installed on the machine are offered.

Does the standalone export need software to open?

No. That is the point of it. The client opens the file and walks through the scene with nothing installed.

Is the asset library included?

Yes, in full and offline.

Do I need a ray tracing card?

No, but it makes a visible difference on reflections and lighting quality.

Live window next to the model changed how we work in meetings. Clients see the change as we make it.

Standalone walkthrough export for a client with no software. They loved it. Worked first time.

Installed for two hosts, toolbar appeared in both. Asset library is all there offline.

Comments are read before they appear. If a build stops working, say so here and it gets rebuilt rather than quietly left up.
