Overview
Canva is the fastest way to produce a decent looking graphic when you are not a designer and do not want to become one. Everything is a template, the templates are all editable, and the constraint of working inside a grid with a fixed set of type pairings produces results that look intentional rather than improvised. For social posts, presentations, simple print work and short video, it is genuinely faster than opening a professional editor.
This desktop build has the Pro tier applied, which is the whole difference between a frustrating experience and a useful one. The locked elements, the premium templates, the background remover, the magic resize that reflows a design into a different aspect ratio, and the brand kit are all available rather than showing an upgrade prompt on click. It runs as a proper desktop application with local file handling instead of only inside a browser tab.
Templates, elements and the Pro library
The template browser is the front door and it is enormous. Filtering by format, then by style, gets you to a usable starting point in under a minute for almost any common output size. Every element on a template can be replaced, recoloured or deleted, and the layout adjusts sensibly rather than leaving a hole.
The element library covers shapes, illustrations, photos, video clips, audio beds and animated stickers. On the free tier most of the good ones carry a crown and stamp a watermark across the export. Here the whole library is open, which means the browsing experience stops being a series of dead ends and the exports come out clean.
Brand kit, resize and the editing tools
The brand kit stores palettes, fonts, logos and a set of styles so that everything produced from it stays consistent without anyone having to remember a hex value. Applying a brand style to an existing design recolours and retypesets it in one action, which is the feature that makes this workable for a team where not everyone has an eye for it.
Magic resize takes a finished design and rebuilds it at a different aspect ratio, moving and rescaling elements rather than stretching them. It is not perfect and usually needs a small cleanup pass, but producing five platform sizes from one design takes minutes instead of an afternoon. The background remover runs on photos and holds a reasonable edge on hair, and the photo editor covers the usual adjustments, filters and simple retouching.
Video, presenting and export
The video editor is a simple timeline with scenes, transitions, text animation and an audio track. It is not a replacement for an editor but it handles a short social cut well, and it uses the same element library so the visual language stays consistent with the static designs.
Presentations run from the application directly with presenter notes and a timer. Export covers image formats, print ready output with bleed and crop marks, video, and a document format that keeps text selectable. With Pro applied there is no watermark on any of them and transparent background export is available on the image formats.

Installing it
- Close any browser tab running Canva before installing.
- Run the installer as administrator.
- Apply the tier state step from the archive after setup finishes.
- Launch the application and open any template to confirm nothing shows a crown.
- Export a small test file and check that it comes out without a watermark.

Questions about this release
Are the premium elements really unlocked?
Yes. The crowned elements and templates are available and exports come out without a watermark.
Does it work offline?
Partly. Designs already open keep editing, but the element library needs a connection to browse.
Can I use my own fonts?
Yes. The desktop build reads fonts installed on the machine as well as the built in list.
Is this different from the browser version?
It is the same editor in a desktop shell, with local file handling and installed font access on top.

Magic resize gave me five platform sizes in about ten minutes. Needed small tweaks but nothing serious.
Brand kit means the rest of the team stops picking their own colours. That alone was worth it.
Comments are read before they appear. If a build stops working, say so here and it gets rebuilt rather than quietly left up.
No crowns anywhere in the browser. Exported a print file with bleed and it came out clean.
