Overview
AutoCAD Mechanical is regular AutoCAD with roughly seven hundred thousand standard parts, a set of engineering calculators and the drafting standards machinery layered on top. It draws the same lines in the same file format, so a drawing produced here opens on any AutoCAD seat, but the parts of the job that used to be repetitive are handled by the toolset instead of by the drafter. Bolts, nuts, washers, bearings, shafts, springs, gears and structural sections are placed from a library at the right size for the fit rather than drawn as geometry.
This is the full offline installation with the licensing handled. The trial counter does not run, the sign-in screen does not appear, and the Autodesk desktop service that normally installs alongside is stripped out of the repack. What remains is the application, the content libraries and the standards data, all local.
Standard parts and the content library
The parts library covers the international standards families, so a bolt can be placed as an entry from one of them and it will carry its correct thread, head form and clearance data. Placing a fastener into a hole generates the hole, the counterbore and the thread representation in one move, and changing the size afterwards updates all of them. Screw connections can be assembled as a set, with the whole stack of bolt, washers and nut driven by one dialog.
Shaft generation deserves a mention on its own. The shaft generator builds a stepped shaft from a table of sections, adds the chamfers, undercuts, keyways and retaining ring grooves, and then hands the geometry to the calculation module for a deflection and stress check. The result is a drawn shaft and a calculation report from the same operation.
Drafting standards and annotation
The toolset carries the drafting standards as data rather than as a document you are supposed to follow. Layer names, line types, dimension styles, text heights and title block content are driven by the selected standard, and switching a drawing from one standard to another remaps them. Automatic layer management puts objects on the right layer when they are created, which is the single biggest reduction in cleanup work on a large drawing.
Balloon and parts list generation are associative. Balloons are placed around an assembly, numbered automatically, and the bill of materials builds from the components that were actually placed rather than from a list maintained by hand. Renumbering after an insertion reflows the balloons and the list together, and the list can be exported for the purchasing side.
Calculations and design checks
The calculation modules cover the everyday engineering checks: moment of inertia and section properties, deflection and bending on shafts and beams, spring design against a load case, cam design with a motion profile, and fit and tolerance selection with the resulting clearances shown. Each produces a report that can be attached to the drawing, which keeps the reasoning with the geometry.
None of it replaces a proper finite element study, and it does not pretend to. The point is that the checks a drafter would otherwise do in a spreadsheet next to the screen are inside the drawing and update when the geometry changes.

Installing it
- Unpack to a local drive with at least 30 GB free.
- Disable real time protection before running setup.
- Run the installer as administrator and choose the content libraries you need. Installing all of them adds several gigabytes.
- Let the installer finish and close it without launching the program.
- Start AutoCAD Mechanical from the shortcut. It opens straight to the drawing environment with no sign-in.

Questions about this release
Do drawings open on a plain AutoCAD seat?
Yes. The file format is the same. Mechanical specific objects appear as proxy objects that display correctly but cannot be edited without the toolset.
Is the whole parts library included?
Yes, but it is optional during setup. Selecting every standard adds a lot of disk use, so pick the ones you work to.
Does the Autodesk desktop service install?
No. It is removed in this repack, so there is no background updater and no sign-in prompt.
Will it install next to another Autodesk product?
Yes. Separate product folders and separate profiles, and the shared components are handled by the installer.

Comments are read before they appear. If a build stops working, say so here and it gets rebuilt rather than quietly left up.
