Overview
Dr.Fone is a collection of separate phone utilities presented as one program, which is exactly what most people want when something has gone wrong with a phone and they do not know which of five possible tools they need. Data recovery, transfer between devices, backup and restore, screen unlock, system repair and permanent erasing all live behind one launcher, and each module supports both major mobile platforms.
Normally each module is licensed separately, which is how a simple job turns into an expensive one. This build has every module unlocked for both platforms, so whichever tool the situation turns out to need is available without another purchase. The device drivers are bundled rather than downloaded on first connection.
Recovery and backup
The recovery module scans a connected device for deleted messages, contacts, call history, photos, notes and application data. Success depends entirely on whether the space has been reused, so the important thing is to stop using the phone the moment something is deleted and connect it as soon as possible. Recovery from an existing backup file is also supported, including selectively pulling out one conversation without restoring the whole thing over the device.
Backup writes a full copy to the computer with per category selection, and restore puts back individual items rather than forcing a complete overwrite. That selective restore is the feature that matters, since a full restore replaces everything on the device including whatever is newer than the backup.
Transfer, unlock and system repair
Phone transfer copies contacts, messages, photos, video, music and application data from one device to another, including across platforms, which is the case that manufacturer tools deliberately handle badly. It is one operation with a progress bar rather than three separate exports.
Screen unlock removes a forgotten lock from a device you own, at the cost of wiping it, which the program states clearly before it begins. System repair fixes a device stuck in a boot loop, frozen on a logo, or trapped in recovery mode by reinstalling the system software, with a standard mode that preserves data and a deep mode that does not. Try standard first, always.
Erasing, drivers and practical notes
The erase module overwrites data rather than deleting it, which is what a device leaving your hands actually needs. A factory reset alone leaves recoverable data behind on some devices, and this closes that gap. It can also clear junk files and large unused application caches without a full wipe.
Device drivers are included, so a phone is recognised on connection without hunting for a manufacturer package. Use the cable that came with the device, since a charge only cable will connect for power and never appear as a device. If a phone is not detected, that cable is the cause far more often than anything else.

Installing it

My phone is not detected. What now?
Nine times out of ten it is the cable. Use a data capable one, not a charge only cable, and let the bundled drivers install first.
Will recovery definitely get my messages back?
No tool can promise that. It depends on whether the space has been written over, so stop using the phone immediately and connect it as soon as you can.
Does screen unlock keep my data?
No. Removing a lock wipes the device, and the program says so before it starts. There is no way around that.
Are all the modules included?
Yes, every module for both platforms, rather than the single module licence you would normally end up buying.
