Overview
Magic Bullet has a specific reputation and it is deserved. It is the set you install when the footage is technically fine and emotionally flat, and it is built around the idea that a look is a stack of small physical decisions rather than a single curve. Exposure, then colour balance, then a subject specific correction, then the lens and film behaviour on top. Working that way produces a grade that survives on a large screen instead of falling apart the moment anyone looks closely.
The suite installs across every supported editor and compositor on the machine at once. This is the licensed build, so renders come out clean, the preset libraries are fully populated and nothing in the tool list is greyed out with an upgrade prompt attached.
The Looks tool and how grading works here
Looks is the centrepiece and it does not present itself as a set of sliders. It gives you a simulated optical chain, subject, matte box, lens, camera, and film, and you build the grade by adding tools into the position in that chain where they physically belong. A diffusion filter goes in the matte box and behaves like glass. A gel goes in front of it. Film emulation sits at the end where the stock would be.
That ordering sounds like a gimmick until you use it, at which point it becomes obvious why a bloom applied before a grade looks different from one applied after. Scopes sit inside the interface so exposure decisions are made against real data, and the whole chain saves as a preset that applies to any other clip or transfers to another host.
Skin, denoise and the supporting tools
Cosmo handles skin. It finds faces, separates skin tones from everything else and evens them out without the plastic result that a general softening filter produces. It works on a whole timeline rather than shot by shot, which is what makes it usable on interview footage where fifty cuts all need the same treatment.
Denoiser is the other tool that earns its place, cleaning low light footage while holding onto edge detail and grain structure, with a separate control for chroma noise which is usually the ugly part. Mojo produces the modern high contrast teal and orange treatment as a single dialled look, Colorista handles primary and secondary correction with keyable masks, and Renoiser puts a controlled grain structure back on afterwards so a cleaned image does not look digital.
Working with it on a real timeline
Everything is GPU accelerated, and a full Looks chain adds a manageable amount per frame on a current card. The suite carries draft quality modes so playback stays live while you are grading and full quality only returns at render, which is the difference between grading in the timeline and grading in a render queue.
Presets transfer between hosts, so a look developed in a compositor loads in an editor unchanged. That is more useful than it sounds on a job where an offline edit and the finishing pass happen in different applications, since the look does not have to be described in an email and rebuilt by hand.

Installing it
- Close every host application before starting.
- Turn off real time protection and run the installer as administrator.
- Confirm the detected host list so the plug-ins go to the right folders.
- Let the preset library finish unpacking before closing the installer.
- Open one host and apply Looks to a clip to confirm the render is clean.

Does it watermark renders?
No. The licence is applied during install and every tool renders clean.
Which hosts does it install into?
It detects supported editors and compositors on the machine and installs into all of them in one pass.
Can I move a look between applications?
Yes. Presets are shared across hosts, so a grade built in one loads unchanged in another.
Is Cosmo usable on a long interview?
Yes, that is what it is built for. It runs per clip but the settings copy across a whole timeline.

Denoiser saved a night shoot that I thought was unusable. Chroma control is the important part.
Cosmo on a fifty cut interview took about twenty minutes total. Skin looks even and still looks like skin.
Comments are read before they appear. If a build stops working, say so here and it gets rebuilt rather than quietly left up.
