Overview

Sapphire is the effect package that a lot of finished work quietly runs through. It is a few hundred plug-ins covering light, glow, blur, distortion, texture, film emulation, stylisation and transitions, and the reason people pay for it rather than using what the host already has is that its renders hold up when the shot is projected large. The glows fall off the way real light does, the flares are built from modelled optical elements rather than a stack of gradients, and the film looks are sampled from stocks rather than guessed at.

This build installs into every supported host on the machine at once and carries the licensing already applied. There is no watermark drawn across the render, no fifteen day countdown, no license manager service running in the background and no host sign-in. The preset browser is fully populated, including the animated presets and the Mocha assisted effects.

What is in the library

The light group is where most people start. Lens Flare carries a large preset library and an editor that lets you build a flare element by element, with the position tracked to a light source in the shot. Glow, Glint, Rays, Luna and Shimmer all key off image luminance rather than a matte, which is what makes them sit inside a frame instead of on top of it.

Beyond light there is a full blur and distortion group, a texture and grunge group for adding dirt, damage and organic movement, a film group that covers stock emulation, grain, gate weave and damage, and a stylise group that runs from clean vector looks to heavy painterly treatments. The transition group alone is around fifty effects and is the part editors tend to use daily.

Hosts and how it installs

One installer covers all of it. On a machine with After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop and an OFX host present, the effects appear in every one of them after a single pass, and each host gets the version of the interface it expects rather than a generic panel. The OFX side covers the timeline editors and compositors that use that standard, so a grade suite and an edit suite can share the same effect vocabulary.

Effects are GPU accelerated where the host allows it, which on a heavy flare or a large glow is the difference between scrubbing a timeline and waiting on every frame. If a host is installed after Sapphire, run the installer again rather than reinstalling the host, and the new plug-in folder is picked up.

Presets, tracking and workflow

The preset browser renders live thumbnails from your own footage rather than from a stock clip, which is the single feature that makes a library this size usable. Presets can be saved with their parameter animation intact and shared as files between machines, so a look developed on one shot travels to the rest of the sequence.

Several effects carry a built in planar tracker for placing a light, a texture or a damage layer onto a moving surface, and the tracked result can be adjusted after the fact rather than resolved once and baked. Parameters are all keyframable in the host, so nothing here is a one shot filter.

What you get

  • Several hundred effects across light, blur, distortion, texture, film and stylise groups
  • Lens Flare with an element based editor and a large preset library
  • Around fifty transitions available in every supported host
  • One installer covering After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop and the OFX hosts
  • GPU acceleration wherever the host exposes it
  • Preset browser with live thumbnails rendered from your own footage
  • Built in planar tracking on the effects that need a surface
  • Every parameter keyframable and animatable in the host
  • No watermark and no license manager service in this build

Inside the archive

  • Sapphire 2026 unified installer for all supported hosts
  • Full preset library including the animated presets
  • Flare element and texture asset packs
  • Notes on running the installer again after a new host is added
  • Readme covering the plug-in folder locations per host

System requirements

Operating systemWindows 10 version 22H2 or Windows 11, 64-bit
ProcessorMulticore 64-bit, 8 threads or more recommended
Memory16 GB minimum, 32 GB for 4K work
Graphics6 GB VRAM minimum for accelerated rendering
Storage8 GB free for the install and asset packs
HostA supported version of After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop or an OFX host

Installing it

  1. Close every host application before you start. The installer cannot write into a running program.
  2. Suspend real time protection for the duration of the install.
  3. Run the installer as administrator and leave every host checkbox ticked unless you know you do not want one.
  4. Open a host and confirm the effect group appears with no trial marking on a render.
  5. If you install another host later, run this installer a second time rather than reinstalling anything.

Questions about this release

Does it watermark the render?

No. Renders come out clean from every host, including the transitions, which is where the trial normally puts its mark.

Will one install cover all my hosts?

Yes, provided every host is present before you run it. Add a host later and simply run the installer again.

Do I need a specific host version?

It targets the current cycle of each host. Very old host versions will install but some effects will not appear in the menu.

Is there a background service?

No. The license manager service is removed in this build, so nothing runs when your host is closed.

Installed into AE and Resolve in one pass. Renders are clean, checked a transition frame by frame.

Flare editor is the reason I wanted this. Presets all load and the thumbnails use my own footage.

No license service in task manager after install, which was my worry. Runs fine on a 4070.
