Overview

IObit Uninstaller is built for the machine that has accumulated a hundred and forty installed programs, most of which nobody remembers agreeing to. It lists everything including the store applications, the bundled extras that arrived alongside something else and the browser add-ons that were never deliberately installed, sorts by size, install time and how rarely each is used, and removes as many as you select in one queued pass.

This is the Pro build with the licensing settled beforehand, which unlocks the install monitor, the forced removal mode, the deep leftover scan and the automatic removal of update tasks and services. The advertising panels and upsell prompts that the free version carries have been removed from this repack, so it is a plain tool with no interruptions.

Bulk removal

The main list is sortable and filterable, and the useful filters are the ones that surface what you would not have thought to look for: large programs, recently installed programs, infrequently used programs and the bundled extras it identifies as having arrived with something else. Tick as many as you like and the queue processes them one after another, handling each program's own uninstaller and then sweeping for leftovers.

Store applications and the preinstalled system applications are listed alongside the conventional ones and can be removed the same way, which is more than the built in tools allow. Browser extensions, toolbars and plug-ins get their own section covering every installed browser at once.

Leftovers, stubborn entries and updates

After each uninstall a scan looks for the files, folders and registry entries the program left behind and offers to delete them, with the confident matches selected by default. There is a separate powerful mode that scans more aggressively and is worth reserving for programs you are certain about.

Forced uninstall deals with entries that have no working uninstaller, that fail partway, or that do not appear in the list at all. Give it a name or a folder and it scans the machine for everything belonging to it. There is also a dedicated tool for removing the update services and scheduled tasks that many programs install and leave running permanently, which on a typical machine is a surprisingly long list.

The install monitor

Enabled once, the monitor sits quietly and records what any new installation writes to the machine. Removing that program later then uses the recording rather than a search, producing a complete reversal with nothing left over.

The monitor also flags software that installs additional components you did not ask for while it is happening, which is useful in itself. The logs are stored locally as files and can be reviewed at any time, so you can see exactly what a given setup routine did even if you have no intention of removing it.

Questions about this release

How does it differ from the other uninstaller here?

This one is built for volume, removing many programs in one pass with strong filters for finding what to remove. The other is more surgical about a single removal.

Is the powerful scan mode safe?

It scans more aggressively and can match items belonging to other software. Use the standard mode for routine work and reserve this one for programs you are certain about.

Can it remove preinstalled system applications?

Yes, they are listed alongside everything else and remove the same way.

Does it show adverts?

Not in this build. The advertising panels and upsell prompts have been removed from the repack.

Removed thirty one programs in one pass on a machine I inherited. The bundled filter found things I would never have spotted.

The update service removal tool found nine background updaters. Startup is noticeably quicker now.

No adverts in this build which was my complaint about the free one. Works quietly.

Comments are read before they appear. If a build stops working, say so here and it gets rebuilt rather than quietly left up.
