Microsoft Printer Metadata Troubleshooter Tool

Open PowerShell or Command Prompt and run: winget install Microsoft.PrintMetadataTroubleshooter. Winget is built into Windows 10 (1809+) and Windows 11.

Fixes a bug in affected units that have falsely detected non-HP printers as HP and automatically installed the HP Smart app. Requires command line use.

Microsoft Printer Metadata Troubleshooter Tool is available under the Proprietary license. Use winget or the direct download link on this page.

Run winget upgrade Microsoft.PrintMetadataTroubleshooter in PowerShell or Windows Terminal to update Microsoft Printer Metadata Troubleshooter Tool to the latest available version.

Run winget uninstall Microsoft.PrintMetadataTroubleshooter in an elevated PowerShell window, or go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps and find Microsoft Printer Metadata Troubleshooter Tool.
